VEGANMOFO 2009: Cookbook Suggestions Needed!

Vegan MoFo Fail: I had hoped that I would get the chance to do my thing today and try out a couple new recipes. Unfortunately, I had to work late, work on some grant stuff, and clean up after the doggy doodles. I apologize for not keeping up on this today! I'll be better tomorrow (although, it won't be an any less hectic day!), and I'll post on Saturday to make up for it! :)

Today I thought I'd pose a question. You've seen my array of vegan cookbooks. I want to know which one (or two, or three) I should add to my collection. Good and plentiful photos are a MUST!
So...What's your favorite vegan cookbook?

  1. Including the photo requirement makes the request much more difficult.

"Great Chefs Cook Vegan" has amazing photos. Great food porn. However the recipes are very involved and take longer than most people can spare during the week.

"Vegetarian Supercook" by Rose Elliot is a solid book that is less involved than the book above. It isn't exclusively vegan but the recipes that are vegetarian I have been able to modify to make them vegan.

If you can overlook the lack of photos I would highly recommend "Nonna's Italian Kitchen" by Bryanna Clark Grogan. This was my first vegan book and the reason we were able to remain vegan. If you cook much Italian food it is invaluable.

    I hope this helps,
    Alicia

  2. I agree with Vegan Epicurean that your photo requirement is making things a bit tough.

The Real Food Daily cookbook is super delicious and has lovely pictures of at least half the items. I have made SO MANY recipes from it. Some are easy and some are complicated, they're almost all delicious.

My other two real favorites that you don't have are Voluptuous Vegan and Healthy Hedonist (not all vegetarian) - put they have no pictures. Seriously though - super delicous recipes... and worth it for the soups and desserts alone.

Feel free to check out the tags on my blog to see what I've made from them and see if the recipes appeal to you.

    :)

  3. Thanks for the suggestions! I know it's limiting, but the reason I have the photo rule is so that I'm motivated to actually try the recipes!!

    Thanks again for your comments!

  4. The Conscious Cook is new and gorgeous.

1,000 Vegan Recipes has no photos but is awesome.
